It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to the next REWARD | EQUATOR Conference hosted by the BIH QUEST Center. The meeting will take place in the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus, in the heart of historic Berlin, from 20th to 22nd February 2020.
The conference theme – “Sharing strategies for Research Improvement” – for us represents an ambition to move beyond the articulation and description of problems, to instead provide greater focus on possible solutions; their development, testing, evaluation and dissemination. We will consider challenges and opportunities for improvement from the perspective of Ethics Committees and Regulators, Publishers, Institutions and Researchers, and Funders; and will have themes running through the conference on new methods for measuring and testing interventions. By involving communities beyond biomedical research we hope to broaden the discussion, that we can learn from each others‘ experience.
The choice of the meeting venue enables us to come together under one roof with ample circulation areas to promote discussion. The agenda includes opportunities and facilities for ad hoc groups to form and to discuss specific issues arising during the conference, with a view to establishing new collaborative networks. We are particularly keen to provide a platform for the next generation of research improvement researchers and practitioners, and the agenda reflects this.
To make this a successful conference, we need your help. Please come to Berlin, present your scientific work, and let us all together successfully shape the next REWARD | EQUATOR Conference in the wonderful city of Berlin.
Berlin, as a free and open city, as well as both of us, look forward to welcoming you.
We now have extensive evidence of the prevalence and impact of many wasteful research practices and practical strategies are emerging to improve research. At the REWARD | EQUATOR Conference 2020 our focus will shift to place emphasis on the development, evaluation and implementation of strategies to reduce waste and increase quality in research.
Covering the perspectives of Ethics Committees and Regulators, Publishers, Institutions and Researchers, and Funders, and with dedicated sessions relating to methodological issues in Research on Research, the Conference will bring together leading practitioners in research improvement in plenary sessions, and provide ample opportunities for discussion and facilitation of new collaborative partnerships.
